Privacy Policy

The short version

Privacy Agent is built to remove tracking, not add it. It runs locally in your browser. It does not collect your browsing history, the pages you visit, your name, or your IP-linked identity. The little data it does handle is anonymous and exists only to make the extension work and improve. We never sell data.

What we collect

Settings & local data — stays on your device. Your preferences, the consent funnels the extension learns, and a cached copy of the rule-set are stored locally via the browser’s storage. This never leaves your browser unless a section below says otherwise.

An anonymous install ID + minimal usage events. The extension generates a random install identifier — not linked to you, your email, or your IP — and sends minimal, non-identifying events (for example, that a banner was handled or a “pay or consent” wall was flagged). This contains no browsing history, URLs, or page content.

Opt-in coverage reports — off by default. If, and only if, you turn on reporting in settings, the extension may send the public hostname of a site where it found a tracking funnel (e.g. example.com), so we can improve coverage for everyone. This is a public fact about a website, never about you: no full URL, no page content, no identity, no history.

Email — only when you give it. If you join the early-access waitlist or subscribe to the paid service, you provide your email directly. Waitlist email is used only to contact you about early access. Subscription email is used to manage your account and is processed by our payment provider (Stripe).

What we do NOT collect

How we use what we collect

Solely to: operate the extension, keep the consent rule-set current, understand aggregate usage so we can improve, and (if you opt in) expand site coverage. No advertising, no profiling, no resale.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent data. We share only with infrastructure providers that run the service on our behalf — our hosting/database provider and, for paid subscriptions, our payment processor (Stripe, which handles payment details under its own privacy policy). They process data only to provide their service to us.

Data retention

Anonymous usage events are retained only as long as useful for product analytics. Opt-in hostname reports are aggregated. Waitlist email is kept until you unsubscribe; subscription data is kept as long as your account is active and as required for billing and legal purposes.

Your choices

Privacy Agent Pro (the paid tier)

The paid service files data-deletion and opt-out requests with third-party vendors on your behalf, acting as your authorized agent. To do that it processes the personal details you provide for those requests (e.g. name, email, state of residency) and transmits them only to the vendors and rights-frameworks needed to fulfill your request. We minimize and do not repurpose this data.

Children

Privacy Agent is not directed to children under 16.

Changes

We’ll update this page and the “last updated” date when the policy changes.
